[Abk. für Common Electronic Purse Specifications, dt. »allgemeine Spezifikation für elektronische Geldbörsen«], weltweiter, systemunabhängiger Industriestandard für elektronische Geldbörsen (E-Cash). CEPS wurde u. a. von VISA, Europay und dem Zentralen Kreditausschuss (oberste Vertretung der deutschen Kreditwirtschaft) entwickelt und 1998 vorgestellt. CEPS definiert alle Elemente, die für eine weltweit operable elektronische Geldbörse (E-Cash) benötigt werden. Die Datenverschlüsselung erfolgt auf Basis des Public-Key-Vefahrens.
